About the Green School Committee

the green school committee of the usgbc detroit region

green school /grEn skül / n. a school building or facility that creates a healthy environment that is conducive to learning while saving energy, resources and money. 


The mission of the Green School Committee is to bring awareness of the benefits of green schools to Michigan, advocate the value of green building and renovation for all Michigan schools, and ensure green schools for all children within THIS generation


The Green School Committee is proud to champion projects such as the annual My Green School Art Contest, Green Apple Day of Service Projects, the Engineering Society of Detroit's Future Cities Competition and more to help build the green school movement in Southeast Michigan and Detroit.


Currently the Green School Committee is co-chaired by Peggy Matta, Anna Balzer and Harold Wilcox.
